Every year the number of newly graduates increases. More and more of our Filipino college graduates are looking at call center jobs as an option for employment that is why most of them end up not practicing their chosen career.

With the newly open call center in different locations in the country, it shows that the industry is emerging in Philippines and continues to grow rapidly. Due to its massive expansion, the call center industry is tagged as the “Sunshine Industry” in Paradise Philippines. It is the said to be the fasting growing sector in terms of service industry. Philippines is a favored location for call centers due to its relatively low wages and cheap office spaces.

In 2004, Paradise Philippines already captured 20 percent of the total world market share in contact center services. The Philippine government estimates the Philippines could capture 50 percent of the total world English-speaking market in 2008. This industry, aside from contributing 12 percent in to the Philippines gross national product, is said to be the fastest growing provider for Filipino college graduates.

Being the third largest English speaking country in the world and with a high literacy rate, Paradise Philippines is considered as one of the most competitive call center destinations in the world. Many investors are setting up call centers which creates thousand of jobs for our Filipino professionals.

But not all aspiring call center agents gets hired, aside from having an excellent communication skills. They must also possess the diction, grammar, cultural knowledge, attitude and understanding of the subtle nuances of communication to guide the customer throughout the call.

Based on industry forecasts, the call center industry will employ more than a million Filipinos by 2010, and by 2012, the Information and Communication Technology sector will generate revenues of more than $12 billion.

Paradise Philippines: The Philippine Travel Mart (PTM), is the premier inbound tourism event that gathers the 16 regions of the country under one roof showcasing their destinations and latest tourism products and services to consumers and members of the travel trade industry, and information on travel possibilities - where to go, what to see, where to stay what to do, among other things.

The presence of Secretary Durano underscored the distinction of the Paradise Philippines Travel Mart which is annually organized by the Philippine Tour Operators Association, the Department of Tourism and the Paradise Philippines Convention and Visitors Corporation.
Aside from Secretary Durano, the other Tourism bigwigs present were Senate Committee on Tourism Chairman Senator Richard Gordon and House of Representatives Committee on Tourism Chairman Congressman Edgar Chato of Bohol.
